The Chiltern Hills 2019 Vintage Vehicle Rally

2019 Classic motor vehicle show charity event held at Weedon Park near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. This annual event organised by The Game Club raises money for local charitable causes and is held in the countryside of Buckinghamshire attracting large numbers of visitors and exhibitors every year. Walking around all the classic vehicles I was impressed by some of the restorations and dedication these enthusiasts have in maintaining their vehicles to a very high standard. I remember as a child seeing many of these vehicles used as everyday transport with the owners unaware of how sought after and valuable these old bangers would eventually become. Fully restored, many of these vehicles are now immaculate and look like they have just come out of a show room. I can't help but be attracted to the old VW Campervans which were a huge part of my childhood years. My grandad had several of these classics and I remember he was always frustrated with the lack of power as we made our way up steep welsh mountain passes and the sound of the engine misfiring until it eventually ground to a halt and he would end up with his head in the engine bay tinkering around until he eventually got us on the move again. I think these shows certainly bring back memories for many of us although I do find myself feeling quite old when I see many of the vehicles that were an every day part of my life are now old classics.
